Hall of Fame Inductee - 1978 Girl's Softball Team

Under the direction of Coach John Koscielski, the 1978 girls softball
team claimed the single-class state championship. The Blue Devils
finished with a 25-3 record and defeated New Trier in the title game.
Most of the members of this team had played the previous season, when
the Blue Devils placed third in the state tournament.
Kay Robbins was the team's ace pitcher, and she shared most valuable
player honors with first baseman Cynthia Bumbry. Those two, along with
catcher Sheila Huggins, third baseman Gloria Williams and outfielder
Vicki Arp received either all-state or all-conference honors.
Other team members included Patricia Klingebiel, Pamela Pettit, Alice
Cannella, Karen Schuster, Nancy Steinkamp, Lynn Thompson, Amy Kientzle,
Tammie Tipton, Ann Kemner, Michelle Vogel, Gina Vancil, Chris Nagel and
Tina Roberts. Sherry Anders was the assistant coach.
