Hall of Fame Inductee - Alan Bush
Bush will be remembered as one of the most versatile athletes in Quincy
High School history. He starred in three sports - basketball, football
and baseball - and received All-State honors in both basketball and
football. He played on the 1966-67 basketball team that lost to the
David Robicsh-led Springfield Senators in the super-sectional in Macomb,
one of the most talked-about games in Blue Devil history. A left-handed
pitcher, his high school baseball career ended with a 1-0 loss to Camp
Point Central - and future major league pitcher Rick Reuschel - one step
from the state tournament. Bush was drafted by the Atlanta Braves the
summer after his senior season, but he instead accepted a football
scholarship to the University of Missouri. A quarterback, he was a
member of the Tigers' Gator Bowl team in 1968, but a serious knee injury
his sophomore season cut short his collegiate career in that sport.
Bush pursued baseball for the rest of his stay at Missouri.
