Hall of Fame Inductee - Bob Spear
Spear, a 1973 graduate, is best remembered for his shooting prowess
on the basketball court. He was a second team all-stater as a junior and
was named the captain of the Chicago Daily News all-state team after
his senior season, when he averaged 21-9 points per game. The honor of
captain on the Chicago Daily News team equaled by the Mr. Basketball
award given yearly by the Chicago Tribune.
During the 1972 QHS Thanksgiving Tournament, Spear also made a record
14 field goals in a game. He played college basketball at Illinois
Wesleyan, where he was a four-year starter alongside future NBA standout
Jack Sikma.
