Hall of Fame Inductee - Chad Downs
One of the most recognized wrestlers in Quincy High history, Chad Downs
made a name for himself during the early 1990s. As a junior Downs
captured the 130 pound weight class title in the Quincy Invitational and
later qualified for the state tournament. But things would get even
better his senior year. Downs defended his Quincy Invitational title in
the 130-pound weight class and was named as the tournament's co-most
valuable wrestler. He defeated 45 of 48 opponents he faced and, after
winning titles at the regional and sectional level, eventually captured
5th place in the state-wrestling tournament. During his senior season
Chad Downs was recognized as the Quincy Herald Whig athlete of the week,
was named to the Western Big Six All-Conference team and was chosen to
participate in the East/West All-Star Metro Classic. Downs now serves as
a corrections officer with the Adams County Sheriffs Department. The
Downs family resides in Quincy.
