Hall of Fame Inductee - Dick Holzgraefe
Holzgraefe, a 1960 graduate, lettered in football, track and
basketball. He was a fullback on the 1959 football team that finished
with an 8-1 record - the best record any QHS team compiled in 19
previous years. He was selected to the Champaign News Gazette all-state
team and the Chicago American all-state team, and he also was an
honorable mention All-American.
Holzgraefe was on the basketball team for three years, scoring 160
points during his senior season. In track, he set the district record in
the discuss event and qualified for the state meet as a senior.
He attended the University of Missouri on a football scholarship for
one year before transferring to Western Illinois University , where he
was a starting offensive tackle for three years.
