Hall of Fame Inductee - Dick Sturhahn
Considered by many to be the finest golfer ever produced by Quincy High
School, he was undefeated in regular season matches as a sophomore,
junior and senior. He finished third in the state tournament as an
individual in 1957 to help the Blue Devils to a second-place finish as a
team. Sturhahn won the Quincy Invitational and the district
championship as a junior, and won the Champaign Invitational and
district title as a senior, when he also finished second individually in
the state tournament. He was the dominant player in the Quincy Men's
City Championship at this same time, winning it for the first time at
age 16 in 1957. Went on to excel with some outstanding golf teams
coached by Harry Mussotta at Western Illinois University. Sturhahn was a
charter member of the Quincy High School Sports Hall of Fame.
