Hall of Fame Inductee - Kathy Kewney
Kathy Kewney Leininger was one of the best tennis players in Quincy
High history. A product of the late 70's, Kewney earned varsity letters
and was selected as the team's Most Valuable Player all four years at
Quincy High. As a freshman, this 1980 graduate won the district title
and made an appearance in the state tournament. In her junior year, she
advanced farther in the state tournament than any woman in Quincy High
history, winning the district title and her first four matches in the
championship bracket. She attended the University of Illinois on a
tennis scholarship and collected varsity letters during her final three
years in school. Kewney graduated from the U. of I. with more wins than
anyone in the history of the Illinois Ladies tennis program. She earned a
Bachelors Degree in Business and Economics in 1983 and later married
Joe Leininger. The couple have one son and now reside in Oregon.
