Hall of Fame Inductee - Larry Moore
One of the most colorful players in Quincy High School history. Moore
was the sparkplug guard on the 1971-72 team that finished second to
Dolton Thornridge in the state tournament. He set single season school
records for most points (910), field goals made (338) and attempted
(710), free throws made (234) and attempted (282) and scoring average
(27.6) that winter that still stand. He was named to the Chicago Daily
News and Champaign News-Gazette All-State teams after that
record-setting season, which saw the Blue Devils post a 28-5 record.
Moore averaged 12.7 points per game as a junior and finished his career
with a 19.8 average, then the best in school history. He went on to the
University of Iowa, where he was a starter before back injuries cut
short his career there. He later resumed playing at Quincy College,
where he was inducted into the QC Sports Hall of Fame. He is a 1985
inductee into the Quincy High School Sports Hall of Fame.
